Within the Planning and Parks Department, employees in three divisions (Planning and Inspections, Parks and Recreation, and Park Ranger) serve the public and are dedicated to provide a full range of services to the community.
- Planning & Inspections
strives to carefully plan community development through a structured environment by enforcing local building and zoning codes, the International building code, minimum housing standards, and the Coastal Area Management Act's (CAMA) local permitting program. - Park Ranger
strives to maintain order within the community by enforcing animal control, enforcing town codes by writing civil citations, performing beach patrol duties, enforcing county ordinances on the North End of the island in the bird nesting area, and by monitoring shore zone parking, illegally parked vehicles, moored boats, construction sites, Wrightsville Beach wildlife and the sea turtle nesting program. The Park Ranger serves the public for the betterment of Wrightsville Beach. - Parks & Recreation
consistently seeks opportunities to improve the delivery of services, to enhance the park settings and other sites throughout the Town, and to maximize a variety of program opportunities. We strive to provide services and leisure opportunities that will contribute significantly toward the physical, social, and emotional well being of the community.
The Department achieves its commitment to efficient, effective and responsive public service through quality employees and a commitment to excellence.
